Negotiation skills are for everyone! As you move through this course you will learn about yourself and the value you bring to an organization. You are worthy of being compensated fairly and competitively for your work. You will learn how to negotiate from a place of confidence and power. You will participate in written exercises to assist you in identifying your strengths, articulating them with confidence, conducting market research on salary bands, and preparing your “ask.” You will learn and practice scripts that give you language to use in different scenarios. Be ready to practice your newly learned skills and scripts out loud. In fact, plan to practice advocating for yourself with your family members, with the store clerk when you return an item that is poor quality, or with the property manager when multiple appliances in your vacation rental are not in working condition. Negotiation and Self-Advocacy are life skills that can be developed, honed with practice, and used in all areas of life. You will learn how to overcome your fears about negotiating, how to respond when you hear, “No” during a job offer negotiation, and why you can celebrate that you negotiated to the point that you heard, “No.” By the end of this course, you will be a Negotiator and you will Own Your Worth!
